Distribution and Habitat
Breeds in Korea, eastern China, Far East Russia, and winters in Southeast China and Taiwan. Geographically divided into seven subspecies. It is a migratory bird that commonly passes during the spring and autumn, and is a rare summer bird that breeds mainly in the north of Gyeonggi-do in Korea.
Behavior
During breeding seasons, they make unique whistling sounds in grassy shrubs. It always moves close to the ground and rarely comes out of the open. Very cautious and hides to the bushes if approached. Nests are made on the lower branches of bushes or grasslands. The breeding season starts from May and lays 4 to 6 eggs of chocolate color and the incubation period is 14 days. The call sounds trucc! trucc! and different from Japanese Bush Warbler.
Characteristic
The wings are short and the tail and legs are relatively long. Size differences vary widely by geographic subspecies and gender. Similar to Japanese Bush Warbler, but larger, with less olive color and more tan. Forehead is reddish brown to the face but gets paler.
Juvenile
The underside of the body is tan brown. In late summer it is molts in a very short period of time, changing to almost like the adult.
Female
It is noticeably smaller than the male and has a tan color on its side.

Manchurian Bush Warbler (C. d. canturians) : Breeds in eastern China, winters in southern China, Taiwan, Assam, northwestern Thailand, Indonesia and northern Philippines. Considered as a subspecies or distinct species of Korean Bush Warbler. Bigger than the Korean Bush Warbler. Rufous on the upper part is darker than other subspecies. Pale yellow on the side of the lower body and lower tail coverts, often pale yellow extends to the stomach and upper chest.
